“Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?”
Jawad Ali is an Afghan-American singer-songwriter, poet, and record producer from Tampa, Florida. Raised as the son of Afghan refugees who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s, his work explores identity, displacement, spirituality, memory, and the emotional landscape of belonging between worlds.
Writing songs and poetry since the age of eleven, Jawad has spent over two decades crafting deeply personal work rooted in reflection, storytelling, and atmosphere. Blending elements of alternative hip-hop, folk, spoken word, and ambient songwriting, his music often feels intimate and cinematic — handmade verses for the unseen.
Over the years, he has performed across the United States and Canada, touring and sharing stages with artists such as Brother Ali, Dawud Wharnsby, Raef, Maher Zain, and Outlandish. His appearances have included national tours and international festivals such as MuslimFest, the Echoing Change Tour, and Voices for Change.
As both a solo artist and former member of the pioneering Muslim hip-hop duo D-Clique, Jawad’s catalog spans multiple independent releases including We Fell from Heaven (2021), Agnosia (2014), and Sweet Dream Animations (2012).
Whether through music, poetry, or live performance, Jawad Ali’s work is driven by a search for sincerity — an attempt to give language to the inner world, and to preserve the human spirit through art.
